To our area Vineyard Churches and Vineyard Community Church of Wickliffe:

            I'm writing to thank you for your awesome support of Christmas Is For Kids and the recent Haiti crisis. Attached is a letter letting you know how the Christmas Is For Kids program went this year.

            I am also letting you know of a need that has recently arisen. As some of you know Johnny and Marilyn Watts have voluntarily been coordinating and cleaning our facilities along with the help of several committed volunteers from the congregation. This has been a huge savings to the church and has helped us get by during these tough times. Recently Marilyn's job is requiring her and Johnny to move further from the church which will still enable them to be part of our community but will not allow them to continue with the cleaning duties at the church. First, on behalf of the Church, I want to thank Johnny and Marilyn for all their hours of faithful service to Jesus and His Church. I am also asking if any of you would be able to commit 1 or 2 hours once a month or even once a week to help keep our facilities looking good. If you are, please contact the church office at 440- 944 -4402 or send an email to office@clevelandvineyard.com and let us know. We will provide a schedule and training for the duties that will be required.

            Denise has also informed me that she is still in need of volunteers for the greeters ministry. This is one of the most important volunteer positions on Sunday morning. She has the months of February and April covered and a few weeks in March, so that leaves many openings. What a wonderful opportunity to meet someone new, or maybe someone you have seen for weeks or even months but just haven't had the opportunity to get to know. As most of you know by now Haiti was hit with a catastrophic earthquake last night. Haiti is already one of the poorest countries in the world and an event such as this is overwhelming to the people and organizations in Haiti. As christians we are called to be on the forefront of compassion ministry and to love our neighbor wether they live next door or thousands of miles away. As a community of churches the National Vineyard has in place a Mercy Response Team that responds disasters such as the one that has happened in Haiti. I will keep you up to date on what efforts are being done on a regional and national level, in the mean time I would encourage all of us to be praying for relief efforts in Haiti, we as a church will be doing a special collection on Sunday which will go to the Vineyard National Mercy Response Team. We are also opening our building up to the community for prayer for relief efforts Wednesday[tonight] - Friday from 7-9p.m. We will have a list of response organizations people can give to and some scriptural references and prayer resources available to those who attend our prayer vigils. "Many have contacted us asking if we, as the Vineyard USA community, will be responding to the earthquake in Haiti. The following is what is currently happening. We are in conversation with some of our partners like Convoy of Hope. They have a person on the ground in Port-Au-Prince as well as a warehouse in tact. It is nearly impossible to get into Haiti currently. The limited airport access is being used by the government. Eventually, we are sure there will be a need for teams to go down but right now the need is mainly prayer and financial support to prepare for response. You can send contributions to Vineyard USA PO Box 2089 Stafford Texas 77497 and write "Mercy Response" in the memo line. We are waiting to hear from those in the Vineyard who are currently working in Haiti. We will be sending updates as we know more."

Pastor Letter: God's Faithfulness

²We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. ³We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. ~1 Thessalonians 1

The apostle Paul wrote these words to a small struggling church he had planted not long before. Paul was genuinely thankful to the church because he saw God at work in their midst through their work, labor and endurance.

This past year at The Vineyard in Wickliffe I have seen the same thing. In spite of somewhere around 25% of the church losing jobs and our giving down about 35%, the church has had one of the most fruitful years I have seen in all my years here.
